No vacancy: hospital bed needs in the year 2000 and beyond

Health Care Strateg Manage. 1984 Dec;2(12):18-20.

Abstract

Federal programs in health facility planning once encouraged increases in the nation's inventory of hospital beds. More recent programs, however, discourage the provision of additional beds. The current controls combined with the population, especially in the 65 and over age groups, will lead to a hospital bed shortage in the twenty first century.
