Alpha particle chemistry. On the formation of stable complexes between He2+ and other simple species: implications for atmospheric and interstellar chemistry

Abstract

The possibility that stable complexes may be formed between alpha particles (He2+) and small molecules is investigated using QCISD quantum mechanical calculations. Implications for their presence in the terrestrial atmosphere and/or in interstellar space are discussed.
