PET/CT in gynecologic malignancies

Radiol Clin North Am. 2013 Sep;51(5):895-911. doi: 10.1016/j.rcl.2013.05.006. Epub 2013 Jul 17.

Abstract

Ovarian cancer and malignancies of the uterine cervix and corpus are the most commonly encountered gynecologic neoplasms in clinical practice. Although of little value in both diagnosis and early-stage gynecologic malignancy, fluorodeoxyglucose-PET and PET/computed tomography provide accurate detection of metastatic disease in advanced malignancy and better delineation of recurrent disease compared with conventional imaging.
