ESCRTed resistance to T cell attack

Trends Immunol. 2022 Aug;43(8):598-600. doi: 10.1016/j.it.2022.06.007. Epub 2022 Jul 6.

Abstract

Cytotoxic T cells kill target cells such as cancer cells by making pores in their plasma membrane through which toxic enzymes are secreted. Ritter and colleagues now show that cancer cells can actively remove such pores via the action of endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) proteins, thereby counteracting CD8+ T cell-mediated killing.
