Prosthetic valve endocarditis in pregnancy

Abstract

A case of prosthetic valve endocarditis is described, caused by Streptococcus viridans in the third trimester of pregnancy. During her illness, the patient gave birth to a normal baby in an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. She had recurrent post-partum vaginal bleeding. Aspects relevant to the management of the case are discussed.
