Medicine and the Internet: dreams, nightmares and reality

Br J Hosp Med. 1996;56(10):506-9.

Abstract

The Internet promises enormous benefits for medical education, medical research and clinical practice. However, potential problems include patients who are over- or misinformed or who become victims of the psychopathology of life on-line. Perhaps one of the most insiduous but profound effects of the Internet will be on the culture of medicine.
