Abstract

Establishing and maintaining a good referral network is important to the success of both the specialist and the medical center where he or she practices. Consequently, as this article will discuss, specialists should be alert to the many factors that can affect their relationships with referring physicians and should be careful to avoid any actions that might threaten those relationships.
