Vicia root-micronuclei assays on the clastogenicity of water samples from the Kui River near Xuzhou city, People's Republic of China

Mutat Res. 1999 May 19;426(2):133-5. doi: 10.1016/s0027-5107(99)00055-x.

Abstract

The Vicia root-micronucleus (VR-MCN) bioassay was used to determine the genotoxicity of water samples collected from the Kui River near Xuzhou city, China. Results show that all water samples induced elevated MCN frequencies over background. This indicates that the river water was polluted with genotoxic material. The source of pollutants in this river is discussed.
