Incorporating retained deciduous teeth in orthodontic therapy

Am J Orthod Dentofacial Orthop. 2001 Mar;119(3):202-10. doi: 10.1067/mod.2001.112445.

Abstract

While patients with hypodontia of the permanent dentition constitute a relatively small portion of the general population, a significant percentage of these patients will require orthodontic therapy. This is a case report in which the family opted to maintain the retained deciduous teeth rather than seek combined orthodontic-prosthodontic treatment.
