Gender differences in the genetic epidemiology of major depression

J Gend Specif Med. 1998 Oct-Nov;1(2):28-31.

Abstract

This article reviews the current state of knowledge about gender differences in the genetic epidemiology of major depression. In particular, this article seeks to answer two central questions: (1) Is the magnitude of the genetic influences on the liability to major depression similar in men and women? and (2) Are the genetic factors that predispose women to major depression the same as those that predispose men to major depression?
