Cycle-powered short radius (1.9M) centrifuge: exercise vs. passive acceleration

Abstract

NASA: A human-powered short-arm centrifuge is described. This centrifuge could be used during spaceflight to provide +Gz acceleration while subjects performed exercise, thus supplying two forms of weightlessness countermeasures. Results from a study of cardiovascular responses while using the centrifuge are presented.
