Changes in the size and organisation of the brain in man and his ancestors

Brain Behav Evol. 1975;11(2):73-90. doi: 10.1159/000123626.

Abstract

Changes in brain size are described during the evolution of man's ancestors and during man's development. It is shown that differences in size are accompanied by changes in the proportions of the brain, and that selection pressures have been greater for some parts than others.
