Abstract

PIP: The Shilpa Clinic, established in India by Dr. Pramila David provides family planning education and services in a cheerful and well-equipped clinic. Tubectomy, using the laparascopic method, is advocated for its many advantages. Although the clientele at the Clinic is a limited number at this time, Dr. David is confident that soon news of the facilities available will be circulated by satisfied acceptors. The Shilpa Clinic is but a forerunner of what Pramila envisages as a comprehensive guidance, research, training and service center for family planning. Training is an important component. Future plans, to be initiated when the Clinic expands, include research through surveys to design and deliver meaningful messages in effective communication channels, to study the effectiveness of various contraceptives, to refine technological advances and their application, and to develop effective management of a specialized family planning service center.
