[Article in Korean]

Abstract

"Patterns and trends of sex differences in mortality in developed and developing countries are briefly described with a special attention to those of [the Republic of] Korea. Various explanatory approaches that have been used to account for those differences are then reviewed and evaluated." Consideration is given to both biological factors and behavioral factors. The need for a more complex explanatory model that integrates both kinds of factors is noted. (SUMMARY IN ENG)
