Abstract

"The author [investigated]...conscious limitations of fertility in the Czech Lands [during] the period before modern vital registration. She used three main...sources of data: the ecclesiastic literature..., medical literature and juridical literature." The data show that people did practice birth control, abortion, and infanticide despite laws and church teachings to the contrary. (SUMMARY IN ENG)
