Indications and technique of the orthotopic neobladder in women

Urol Clin North Am. 2002 Aug;29(3):725-34, xi. doi: 10.1016/s0094-0143(02)00070-8.

Abstract

Radical cystectomy remains the primary form of therapy for high-grade, invasive bladder cancer. Orthotopic substitution has become the ideal form of urinary diversion in appropriately selected women. Good functional results have been seen with intermediate follow-up in these women. Proper patient selection and surgical technique are critical to optimize the outcome in this group of patients.
