An evaluation of a specialist nursing role for men with prostate cancer

Urol Nurs. 2003 Apr;23(2):148-52.

Abstract

The role of a specialist prostate nurse in the care of men with newly diagnosed prostate cancer has not been well documented. Therefore, the needs of men diagnosed with prostate cancer were individually assessed in this qualitative study. The nurse was an acceptable source of information, with time to listen and respond to the men's physical and psychosocial needs at diagnosis and throughout the continuum of care.
