Right atrial myxoma presenting with recurrent episodes of pulmonary embolism

Cardiology. 1992;81(2-3):178-81. doi: 10.1159/000175793.

Abstract

We observed a right atrial myxoma presenting with recurrent episodes of pulmonary embolism, the diagnosis of which was made approximately 2 years after the initial symptoms appeared. We emphasize the importance of prompt recognition and subsequent surgical treatment of cardiac myxoma because embolism by tumor fragments is a potentially fatal complication of this condition.
