Oligonucleotide fingerprinting in Xiphophorus melanoma. Detection of a melanoma associated DNA modification

J Exp Anim Sci. 1992 Dec;35(3):120-4.

Abstract

Oligonucleotide fingerprints have been generated from fish melanomas and were compared to the constitutional multilocus patterns from normal brain DNA of the same individual. In 3 out of 8 cases additional bands were observed in the tumor DNA. This phenomenon can only be explained satisfactorily by so far unknown modes of DNA modification.
