Nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis associated with the use of a peritoneovenous shunt

Abstract

The following report concerns a case of nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis that developed in a patient being treated with a LeVeen peritoneovenous shunt for intractable ascites secondary to Laënnec's cirrhosis. To the best of our knowledge, such an association has not been previously described.
