J Dent. 2004 Nov;32(8):591-602. doi: 10.1016/j.jdent.2004.05.001.

Abstract

Objectives: To review the various methods and techniques available to assess enamel erosion in vitro.

Data: Peer reviewed scientific articles.

Sources: Medline and Web of Science searches and manual searching.

Study selection: Laboratory based assessments only included.

Conclusions: A number of macroscopic and microscopic techniques have been used to assess enamel erosion in vitro and in situ. This review examines techniques which are either well established or comparatively novel techniques that are being explored for their potential.
