Management of rape victims (regarding STD treatment and pregnancy prevention): do academic emergency departments practice what they preach?

J Adolesc Health. 2005 May;36(5):446-8. doi: 10.1016/j.jadohealth.2004.11.130.

Abstract

This study sought to determine how rape victims are managed in emergency departments with respect to disease and pregnancy prevention. Surveys were sent to directors of emergency medicine residencies and pediatric emergency medicine fellowships. Results indicate that there is some discrepancy between presence of an institutional policy and practice.
