Long-term remission of metastatic small cell carcinoma of the prostate

Urology. 2008 Mar;71(3):546.e3-4. doi: 10.1016/j.urology.2007.10.068.

Abstract

Metastatic small cell carcinoma of the prostate portends a poor prognosis. Survival expectancy is generally estimated in months with few reports in the literature of patients surviving more than 2 years. We report a case of one of the longest known surviving patients in continuous complete remission with metastatic small cell carcinoma of the prostate and review the available literature reporting longer-term survival in this condition.
