The pK(a), values of the conjugate acid of imidazole in water-ethanol mixtures

Abstract

The pK(a) values of protonated imidazole in 10 different water-ethanol mixtures were determined at 25 degrees by potentiometric titration in a cell without liquid junction (glass and silver-silver bromide electrodes). The pK(a) values can be used in a standardization procedure that allows determination of pK(a) values for protonated organic nitrogen bases in aqueous ethanol.
