This article contains a review of the main developments reported during 2008 in either publications or presentations on the pathophysiology, secondary prevention, prognosis or treatment of ST-segment elevation, or non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome. The latest clinical practice guidelines are also summarized and discussed.
