Graphitic carbon nitride as a metal-free catalyst for NO decomposition

Chem Commun (Camb). 2010 Oct 7;46(37):6965-7. doi: 10.1039/c0cc01432j. Epub 2010 Aug 23.

Abstract

Polymeric carbon nitride is reported to be a promising candidate in environmental catalysis for NO decomposition carried out at elevated temperature. Theoretical calculations support a mechanism where Lewis basic site of g-C(3)N(4) can donate electrons to the adsorbed NO, decreasing the bond order of N-O thus facilitating the reaction.
