Antiviral therapy for feline herpesvirus infections

Vet Clin North Am Small Anim Pract. 2010 Nov;40(6):1055-62. doi: 10.1016/j.cvsm.2010.07.010.

Abstract

A large variety of antiviral agents exists for oral or topical treatment of cats infected with feline herpesvirus type 1. Knowledge of the general principles can be used to better understand antiviral pharmacology and thereby guide therapy for cats with herpetic disease. This article compares the antiviral efficacy of these compounds and recommends a common protocol for administering lysine and antiviral drugs to infected cats.
