This Statistical Brief presents data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) on dog bite-related emergency department (ED) visits and inpatient hospitalizations in 2008. Characteristics of all ED visits and hospitalizations that include the external cause of injury code (E Code) for dog bites are compared to the average injury-related ED visit and inpatient hospital stay.
