On Statistical Methods for Estimating Heritability in Wild Populations

Mol Ecol. 2011 Apr;20(7):1324-32. doi: 10.1111/j.1365-294X.2011.05021.x. Epub 2011 Feb 17.

Abstract

Here we take a look at molecular marker-based heritability estimation suitable for non-model organisms. We address several theoretical issues involved and discuss similarities and differences between our two main approaches: the animal model approach and the shrinkage-estimation based multilocus association approach. Also computational issues and hypothetical example applications for ecologists are considered.
