Role of epiphysiodesis in the management of deformities of the foot and ankle

J Foot Surg. 1990 Sep-Oct;29(5):459-62.

Abstract

Dynamic correction of orthopedic deformities of the foot and ankle may be performed by epiphyseal growth retardation, or arrest. These procedures lend themselves to the management of juvenile hallux abducto valgus with metatarsus primus adductus, and ankle valgus in particular. Historical review, indications, timing, and technique are addressed in this manuscript.
