Health Care Manage Rev. 1990 Fall;15(4):35-42. doi: 10.1097/00004010-199001540-00005.

Abstract

An equation, termed SNAO (Stress, Narcotics and other drugs, Access, and Opportunity), was developed to illustrate certain aspects of the health care environment that are potential contributors to the problem of chemical dependency among nurses. The intention is to provide a useful tool to hospital administrators who are faced with this complex dependency problem.
