Abstract

Reconstructive surgery, like cosmetic surgery, is a branch of plastic surgery. Originally developed to treat malformations and disabling physical mutilations, rapid advances were made after the First World War. Today, 90% of French people would undergo reconstructive surgery in the event of significant physical impairment.
