Spinal cord stimulation has evolved since its inception. It has been used as a treatment option since 1967 with a concentration on chronic pain syndromes. This review will focus on reviewing the literature and the most recent publications, as well as a focus on the advancements in technology. The most common indications will be discussed as well as psychological screening, trials, implantation technique, and programming.
