Initial finding of mandible mass in multiple myeloma

J Craniofac Surg. 2012 Nov;23(6):e599-600. doi: 10.1097/SCS.0b013e31826bf44c.

Abstract

Multiple myeloma is characterized by a monoclonal neoplastic proliferation of plasma cells. Systematically, multiple myeloma would bring on hypercalcemia, anemia, renal failure, and bone lesions. The vertebrae, ribs, pelvic bone, and skull are usually involved in bone lesions. We report a 46-year-old man whose initial finding of multiple myeloma was a mandible mass. Mandible mass is not rare in multiple myeloma, but it is not that frequently seen as an initial finding.
