Objective: To identify consistency of the composition and efficacy of Porcellio scaber and Armadillidium vulgare and provide reference for the safe and scientific use of the medicinal material.
Methods: Identified the Porcellio scaber and the Armadillidium vulgare with the method of characteristics; Compared the two chemical composition by thin layer method; Determined the extract by water and ethanol using the pharmacopoeia extract method.
Results: Porcellio scaber and Armadillidium vulgare were two varieties, they had similar chemical composition, the water and ethanol extract were the same.
Conclusion: The compostion and efficary of Porcellio scaber and Armadillidium vulgare are the same, and these two varieties can be mixed or used alone.
