J Spec Oper Med. 2013 Spring;13(1):66-7.

Abstract

Measles, caused by a virus of the Paramyxoviridae family, is one of the most infectious of all diseases to those who are unimmunized, under-immunized, or improperly immunized. A disease rarely seen nowadays in the United States, it is of special importance in refugee settings due to natural or man-made disasters where its appearance can result in significant morbidity and mortality in those affected.
