Correlation of trunk impairment with balance in patients with chronic stroke

NeuroRehabilitation. 2013;32(2):323-5. doi: 10.3233/NRE-130851.

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the correlation between the trunk impairment and balance in patients with chronic stroke.

Methods: Thirty subjects with chronic stroke participated in the study. The subjects were evaluated with the trunk impairment scale (TIS) and Tinetti balance scale (TBS).

Result: Spearman's correlation showed highly significant correlation between TIS and TBS scores (rho = 0.911).

Conclusion: The study reveals that the trunk impairment and balance in subjects with stroke are positively correlated with each other.
