Clin Pharmacol Ther. 2014 Sep;96(3):281-3. doi: 10.1038/clpt.2014.133.

Abstract

The field of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics spans a wide spectrum of research areas involving human subjects at both individual and population levels. One of the key concepts relevant to all of these research areas is biotransformation of drug molecules, which can be defined as the chemical modification of drugs within an organism. This issue of the Journal highlights some of the biotransformation pathways and their sources of individual variations.
