The guideline applies to adults (aged 18 and over) with symptoms suggestive of dyspepsia, symptoms suggestive of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), or both.
Dyspepsia means ‘bad digestion’. It is used to describe a range of symptoms arising from the upper GI tract but has no universally accepted definition. However, commentators agree that dyspepsia represents a complex of symptoms not a diagnosis.
