Acupuncture for the temporary treatment of essential tremor: a case report

Adv Mind Body Med. 2015 Spring;29(2):26-30.

Abstract

This case report describes the successful, temporary treatment of essential tremor in a 74-y-old Caucasian woman, using weekly acupuncture sessions for a 10-wk period. The outcome measures included the patient's (1) subjective evaluation of her percentage of improvement before and after weekly treatments, (2) subjective evaluation of her ability to write personal checks and to hold a cup with 1 hand to drink, and (3) improved ability to write handwriting samples in the university health center. The patient continued to maintain these benefits through monthly acupuncture sessions at 12 mo after the initial acupuncture treatment.
