Managing Corns and Plantar Calluses

Phys Sportsmed. 1991 Dec;19(12):61-7. doi: 10.1080/00913847.1991.11710209.

Abstract

In brief Corns and calluses arise from ankle or foot abnormalities, poor footwear selection, or overuse. A thorough history and exam and appropriate radiographs will help determine their cause. Most of these lesions can be managed conservatively, but refractory corns and calluses may require surgery. If an operation is needed, it is imperative to determine the lesion's etiology beforehand.
