Lysis of a superior mesenteric artery embolus following local infusion of streptokinase and heparin

Abstract

The successful lysis of a superior mesenteric artery embolus with streptokinase and heparin infused locally through catheter selectively placed in the superior mesenteric artery is described. There was minimal morbidity, and the hazards of surgical embolectomy were avoided.
