Abstract

Anticoagulation indications do not differ between elderly and younger patients. However due to the changes with ageing some anticoagulants may increase the risk of bleeding. Therefore a dose adjustment might be needed for some anticoagulant drugs. Non-vitamin K antagonists are as safe and effective as vitamin K antagonists in the elderly.
