Abstract

What exactly happens to chromatin as cells undergo an identity change? In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Li et al. (2017) and Knaupp et al. (2017) offer new insights by mapping in exquisite detail chromatin accessibility dynamics as mouse embryonic fibroblasts are reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem cells.
