A. MT polymerization from different α and β tubulin subunits generates a diversity in the MT composition (we suggest this as an “MT code”) and hence a combinatorial code with PTMs and MAPs. Here we show up to 9 α and 9 β tubulin individual subunits although most cells would express less. This could modulate MT conformation and function. B. Schematics of MT organization during saltatory neuronal migration in control and Tuba1a-S140G mutant neurons. The S140G mutation leads to straighter MTs generating nuclear-centrosome (N-C) coupling defects (indicated by red patch), increased branching and migratory defects in neurons.
