Recently, many infectious diseases have emerged and most of their pathogens are origi- nated from mammalians (zoonosis). Furthermore, some of the diseases spread all over the world by international flow of goods, people and animals. In this review, emergence and transboundary spread of zoonotic infectious diseases in Japan are focused on.
