Abstract

Medical documentation is a record of the process of providing health services. It is also the basic evidence in legal proceedings against the doctor. The law requires specific rules for the protection of medical records. The patient has a statutory right to access medical records. The legal standards for practicing the medical profession include keeping medical records and making them available. Medical records may be made available only to authorized persons and in forms defined by law. The aim of the article is to present and analyze the patient's right to access medical records in the aspect of the doctor's obligation to provide it and as a statutory standard for practicing the medical profession.
