Micro-algae as sources of fine chemicals

Microbiol Sci. 1986 Dec;3(12):372-5.

Abstract

In future, phototrophic micro-algae may be the source of a range of valuable fine chemicals including carotenoids, vitamins, polysaccharides, and essential fatty acids. The screening of these organisms for biologically active molecules has great potential.
