Preparation and characterization of agar beads containing phenobarbitone sodium

J Microencapsul. 1988 Apr-Jun;5(2):159-63. doi: 10.3109/02652048809056479.

Abstract

Different concentrations of agar solution have been used in the preparation of agar beads containing phenobarbitone sodium. A correlation between the particle size of the beads and the agar content was obtained. The results of dissolution study indicated that agar beads could be useful for the preparation of sustained release dosage forms. The Higuchi kinetic model for dissolution described fully the pattern of dissolution found under the preparative conditions.
