Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic led to a global shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), physicians, negative pressure rooms, and hospital beds.UV strategies have been developed to extend the lifespan of medical equipment as well as disinfect environmental surfaces.Regulatory mechanisms to speed up development and approval of technologies and medicines against COVID-19 have been issued.Opportunities to scale the production of UV devices for microbial inactivation are vast.Development of reliable and safe technology to ensure the safety of healthcare workers and contain the virus spreading is the main priority.
